Charlotte Garage Builders

Our recent Charlotte Garage builders project was completed last month just south of Ballantyne. What made this project unique was size of the garage and what was going in it. A 45 foot long recreational vehicle.!

Typically our Charlotte garage builders projects include 25′ x 25′ two car garages with 10 foot ceilings. This garage was 20′ x 50′ with 16′ ceilings as the motor home was 12′ wide and 45′ long and 14′ high. Due to its size the project presented challenges we don’t often see when building a garage. Wall construction, eave construction and roofing to name a few.

1)Wall Construction-We usually build the walls complete with house wrap on the slab and then tilt the walls up. Here we had to frame the walls then tilt them up do to the weight from the 16′ walls. Which meant we had to nail the sheathing up after and wrap. Framers had some trouble carrying 4×8 sheets osb up a ladder 16′.

2)Eave Construction – Ten foot ladder is all that is usually required to complete the eave construction. In this instance ladder jacks were required due to height. We used the ladder jacks to install the vinyl siding as well.

2)Roofing – Our staff is use to roofing low pitch roofs no more than 10-15 feet off the ground. This garage roof was a 12/12 pitch (steep) and starts at 16′ up to 31′ in height. We subcontracted this roof out to our roofing contractor.
